Awesome Grunge Thanks

This Week I am Participating in a few challenges, as you may have noticed from my other postings this week, and another new one for me is the CASE study Challenge #183. This is a really cute sketch and I happened upon it in a weird way by following a trail of blog posts till I ended up on a blog post that mentioned all the challenge blogs this one stamper participates in. So here is my entry:
For this card I wanted lots of color and different shapes and I really like how it turned out in the end. This is a great thank you card for my male friend who helped me out last week, and its funky, youthful, and colorful just like him. Hope you enjoy it.

Below is another card using this same stamp. But as you can see it is totally different but still masculine. I always like how diverse a stamp set can be!

Thanks for Checking out my blog,

Casting Off

This week I am participating in the Friday Mash-up Challenge #152 for Sailing. This is my first time participating in this challenge, but I am excited to get involved. The card I made for this challenge is for my Grandpa. He has been a fisherman his whole life and I think this card gives just the right nautical feel for a Hello card to him.
To make this card I did some coloring on the boat, I used a piece of paper Pumpkin scrap for the grey piece and sanded it so the white showed through and last I stamped the anchor on a piece of scrap paper that I embossed with Silver EP several times so it would leave an impression. Hope you like it.
The photo was a little rushed as you may have noticed due to my homework needing to be a priority.

Thanks for Stopping by,

You Can Do It

This week I am participating in the AYSI challenge for "TWO." The Challenge #28 is in honor of my friend and AYSI designer Tamara and her husband who are expecting twins. It just so happens that another couple friend of mine just had Twins and I hadn't sent them a card yet. So this Challenge was perfect to both make that card and complete this challenge.

This is the card I made for the challenge, It was the second card I made for the Challenge, but it is my favorite of the two, and I thought that it met the challenge better. (I also made it after I realized I hadn't sent my friends T&C a card for their babies yet.)
It uses the retired stamp-set Button Buddies and the color combo of Marina Mist, Pretty in Pink (retire), Smokey Slate, and Whisper White. I used 4 different embossing folders, quite a few layers, die cut letters and a flying banner. I love how it turned out and I hope you do too.
Here is another pic of the card.

This I is the initial card I was talking about above. It is still cute and fits the theme but I think I will send it as an anniversary card.

You Make Me Happy

Today I am playing along with As You See It Challenge #27. This weekend's challenge is to make the text a feature. I used the stamps included in the February Paper Pumpkin. I think that the circles look similar to luminaries, so that was the effect I tried to reflect when I made this card. I also like the spring colour combo I used here. Hope you enjoy it.

Birthday Balloons

Lately I have been seeing a bunch of cards featuring the Card In a Box Technique so I decided to try it out for myself. I copied Frenchie Martin's template to make the card and I think it turned out really cute and it fits in a standard envelope to boot.

I liked the combination of the Tag It stamp set with balloons in this colour combo so much that I decided to make another card with the same idea. I actually think this one is super duper cute even though it is simple.

Polaroids and Left over Paper Pumpkin

I am participating in this week's As You See it Challenge. The theme for this week is # 26 Polaroids. There was a Paper Pumpkin a few months back that was to make a mini album, I had a bunch of left overs so decided to use the Polaroid frames in the kit for this challenge.

This first card features bright colours and I like the lopsided layers. I also like how every colour is used more than once in the card, I think it helps tie all the layers together.

In this next card I tried the same Polaroid concept as above but wanted the butterfly masked on a background of flowers, I like the effect on the image but I thing the card needs a bit more Summer Starfruit.

This last card still used the Polaroid theme but is more minimalist and only one stamped greeting. I like the simplicity and the #hashtaged greeting from the Paper Pumpkin Kit.

Thanks for Reading, Till next time,

Christmas Cards in February is OK

Yes I know it's February, and I know Christmas was almost exactly 2 moths behind us, but it is also only 10 months away!!! Yeah I love Christmas, My Christmas Decorations are up from October till February, in fact I only took my tree down on the 12th of this moth cause I had friends coming over and needed the space. My Christmas Banner and the cards we received this year are still displayed though, I couldn't say goodbye to all of it. ;-)
In the spirit of Christmas here are a few Christmas Cards I have created:
This one is using a few retired stamp sets, but I still think it's great and I love the sparkle!

This one required a little more coloring than I usually like to do and some fussy punching but I think the effect turned out cute. I also love how easy it is to add a splash of color with Washi tape.

This is probably one of my favorite cards I ever made. I just LOVE the glitter for the sand and this is such a beautiful Christmas stamp set. I never actually used it before it retired; I ordered it at Christmas 2012 and didn't use it till last July after it had retired, but it is just too pretty!

Thanks for stopping by. Till next time,
-Jill

A Banner Bitrhday to Get Dressed Up For

I have been following the As You See It Challenge blog for a while now. Many of the designers are in my sideline and also my friends. This, however, is the first time I have participated in the challenge. Here is my entry to the Banner challenge #25:
To make this card I used all SU supplies. The DSP is retired from Sale-a-bration a few years ago. The Dress form is cut our of black CS using the framelits on a Melon Mambo background (I had it left over from a project a while ago). and the greeting is embossed on with white embossing powder.
I hope you like it.
Here is the sketch for this challenge:
AYSIChallenge025

This sketch also inspired me to create a few other banner cards and post some other ideas using banners and even this layout. I thought it was a really cute sketch so I wanted to play along. Enjoy the rest of my ideas.
I really like this for a congrats card.

This is another variation on the sketch. This card is for a baby boy, done in blues and silver.

I was having a hard time deciding weather to go CAS or grungy for the baby boy card so I did this version too.

This last card I actually created a while ago. It is a technique card I stepped up a card I had made for my Friend Laura's Birthday. As you can see the birthday greeting pulls out to reveal a LOT of happy birthday wishes.

Till later,

Convention 2013 Swap Cards

These are the swap cards I made for convention 2013 in Salt Lake City with Stampin' UP!
The whole event was amazing and it was one of the best weeks of the summer. I missed my Husband tons, but other than that I got to do a great deal of stamping, drooling at great new Stampin' UP! products and samples. I also did a bunch of shopping and got a whole new summer wardrobe and become closer friends with a bunch of other Stampin Ladies from my up-line and side-line.
This card was created with the shaving cream technique. I used it for a technique swap I did, I created 42 of these beauties.

I used this card for general swapping and it was very popular. I made 12 of these.

I used this adorable card for a fun swap I did that my up-line Desiree hosted. I initially tried putting water in the treat cups; it proved harder than I imagined. I created 22 of these cute for the birds Christmas cards.

NEVER AGAIN will I do something as complicated as a waterfall card for a swap that isn't an "over the top" swap, especially a 40 count swap. Yup, I made 40 of these to swap, I made a couple extra for myself, so I could actually use them so in the end I made 42. It was a beautiful card and I will likely give it to my grandfather for something. There is no sentiment do I can really choose any occasion.

I also made this card for general swapping, I made 12 of these.

This was the last general swap card I made. I was running low on CS, Color combos, ideas, and steam so this is what I ended up with. It isn't my favorite, but it is still nice. Again 12 of these.

OK these were fun to make. I really love the sweet pressed clay and the yellow and grey color combo. I used the Paper Pumpkin welcome Kit for this one, also made 12 for general swapping.

Simple, Easy and Elegant. This card was a smash hit! Made 12 of them for general swapping.

Another one of the last swap cards I made, I think I finished these in the car on the way down to Salt Lake City. I like the color combo, something doesn't quite work for me though. 12 of these were made for general swapping.

This is one of my favorite sketch layouts I use often it uses the "magic 3" first the bottom DSP, then the wheel followed by the white space and the greeting; and 3 butterflies with dazzling details just for good measure. 12 general swap cards in this style were made.

I actually love this simple card. I was one of my favorites. If I can get away with the look of many layers while still hording my paper I am Happy. This let me use only small bits of DSP and 2 different neutrals to get a elegant feel. I was happy to make 12 of these general swap cards.

So if you have been doing the math this is your result:
General swap cards: 12x8=96
3 Organized Swaps: 42+42+22=106
TOTAL =202
Now bear in  mind that the general swaps I only decided to do 10 days before we left town. That means I did all the deigning, cutting, stamping, assembly packaging and label printing in a week. Yeah I'm crazy.
The other swaps I had either designed or started at least a month before we left and I finished a week before we went to convention, so that was less stressful. I did the work in front of the TV or on my lunch break at work.

Thanks for reading.
