A Challenging Challenge for AYSI

This week my final challenge blog to participate in in the one that started it all, for me at least, As You See It Challenge Blog. This Weeks AYSI #29 I found really challenging; like REALLY REALLY CHALLENGING, and for someone who loves clean and simple this surprised me. maybe it is because I have already made a card that is very similar to the sketch posted, or maybe it's because I have been swamped with school stuff lately. Either way I finally managed to complete 2 samples that work for this challenge.

I do really like this first one and it does contain all the main elements of the challenge. I would have to say it's my first pick between the two because it was my husband's favorite. The ribbon is left over from a paper pumpkin kit, the brads are not SU and the cloud folder is retired, other than that though, everything else is current SU. For the sun rays I cut a larger circle and then randomly snipped using scissors, and I think the effect is quite fun and playful. The clouds are from the cupcake builder punch and the sentiment is form the Sale-a-Bration set 'See ya Later.'

For this second card it stays a little bit more true to the sketch, the way the ribbon moves like rick-rack. I Actually did my fist ribbon dying for this card. I used alcohol and re-inker and then just used my blow dryer to make it all dry fast. I think the crocheted ribbon is very cut in Crumb Cake. I also love this color combo. Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantalope, Very Vanilla, and Crumb Cake, I mean all the colours sound edible so I think you could make a dessert like this. I also really like this hostess set. it is so cute!

Here is a close-up of the Ribbon.

This is the sketch the challenge is for.

As I said above I have created a card very similar to this sketch. I did it back in December for Christmas. I hand cut and scored the leaves and I like how the glimmer brad is the prefect glimmer for a holly berry on this card. The Tag-it stamp set is very cute, even though I am not the biggest fan of coloring directly on the stamp, (I prefer to color in the lines of an outline, as in the flower above.) The Washi Tape ads a nice and very easy splash of color.

Thanks for stopping by

  1. I like both cards, Jill, but my favourite is the second one. Love what you did with the crochet lace trim and the watercolouring on the flower! Thanks for playing along with As You See It Challenges this week.

  2. I am so impressed that you create several cards when you play with us, Jill. And they are all so different! I like the clouds and how well it goes with the sentiment on the first one. I also agree with Heather that the crochet trim looks amazing on the second. It's lovely see your creations on the AYSI.
